PUCS X PETEY GREENE: COLLEGE BEHIND BARS SCREENING AND PANEL DISCUSSION

On April 20th, PUCS and Petey Greene hosted Educating for Change: A Conversation with College Behind Bars, a screening of the critically acclaimed docuseries by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick: College Behind Bars. Following this 45-minute screening, PUCS co-president, Alex Jackman, moderated a Q&A with two individuals who received their education while they were incarcerated through the Bard Prison Initiative, highlighted in this docuseries.

CAMS ROUNDTABLE

PUCS and College Alumni Mentoring Series hosted a roundtable event with alumni who have careers in Criminology and Criminal Justice on Wednesday, March 24th from 6-7:30pm EST! 


We heard from the following panelists:

  • Joanna Abaroa-Ellison C15, Policy Analyst, Crime and Justice Institute, at the Community Resources For Justice (CRJ)

  • Tessa Upin C06 G09, Deputy Director of the Crime and Justice Institute 

  • Julie Wertheimer C07 G10, Project Director for the Public Safety Performance Project at The Pew Charitable Trusts

  • Spencer Willig C06 G10 L10, Assistant U.S. Attorney, United States Attorneys’ Office, District of Vermont, Criminal Division

PUPS X PUCS PANEL

Dr. Rebecca Waller and Dr. Adrian Raine spoke about callous-unemotional traits and how they play a role in development and the criminal justice system.

Undergraduate students learned about how to get more involved with PUCS, met our board, and connected with others interested in criminology at Penn!

INTERNSHIP PANEL

PUCS held its inaugural event on 10/16/2020, when a panel of Penn seniors spoke about their criminal justice-oriented internships. Leaders of PUCS aimed to include perspectives from a wide range of sectors, inviting panelists who have had internships in white-collar criminal defense, as well as at the Federal Trade Commission and the Pennsylvania Innocence Project. The Zoom event drew about 20 audience members from all grade levels.
